Merritt Island Elks Lodge Helping Others

Our Lodge is dedicated to serving our community especially our youth. Some of our programs include: a Keep Brevard Beautiful Road Clean Up Crew. The Santa's Boot Strap event in which we spent over $8,000 last year providing food for over 70 families. Our Lodge donated $1,000 to our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer team. And we also helped special needs children and adults by cooking and serving the food we provided at Country Christmas, a yearly event held at Kiwanis Island.

The Elks is a strictly American organization and therefore we foster and promote love of our country and American values through our Americanism program. We do special services on Memorial Day, Flag Day, the 4th of July and Patriot Day (9/11).

We strongly support our youth, the future of our country. Every year we send over 30 kids to summer camp at our Florida Elks Youth Camp in Umatilla. We sponser a Kids Fishing Tournament at the port. We support local scouts. We have a Angel Wish Tree at Christmas. We also sponsor several contests every year including: a Hoop Shoot, Soccer Shoot, Drug Awareness Contest, and Americanism Essay Contest. The Lodge also awarded Scholarships to 8 deserving students this year.

Elks honor, respect and aid our Veterans. The month of November has been designated Elks Veterans Rememebrance Month. The Merritt island Lodge shows its thanks to our Vets throughout the year. We helped a vet providing special equipment for his disability. We conduct an annual Thanksgiving Dinner to serve homeless vets. Various programs have been supported including: Adopt a Soldier, Honor Flight and the Parade of Heros.

"So long as there are Veterans the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks WILL NEVER FORGET THEM!"

As you can see, we are a very active lodge and try to support our community through our numerous programs. We are one big happy family and love helping others. Come and join us!
